Barry O's Thoughts on his Daughters Snow Day

From Washington City Paper:

“Can I make a comment that is unrelated to the economy very quickly?” Obama asked at a morning economic briefing. “It has to do with Washington. My children’s school was canceled today. Because of what—some ice? As my children pointed out, in Chicago, school is never canceled.”

Obama went on to suggest that D.C. would do well to emulate “flinty Chicago toughness.”

“I’m saying when it comes to the weather, folks in Washington don’t seem to be able to handle things,” he concluded.

To be fair, almost every school in the DC area, including all of the VA and MD burbs were canceled except for the DC public schools. Also, the ice was pretty nasty to walk around in this morning but I share in some of the Presidents weather amazement as I have long been amused at the DC media freak out over a few inches of snow accumulation.

Hope over Fear

I was right up front for yesterday's swearing in of our new President Barack Obama and I will detail the whole surreal experience soon as my brain is too fried right now. Five day benders on little sleep tend to rock your world.

Check out these dope newspaper covers from around the country and world.

Does AG Nominee Holder Got Game?

At the Senate confirmation hearing yesterday, Milwaukee Bucks owner Senator Herb Kohl asked Attorney General nominee Eric Holder about his basketball skills in a one on on game vs President-Elect Obama.

Mac G would not back down from Barry the Baller in an on the court pick up game either. My background is from the North Side of the tracks in GI. It is not Barry Farms but weapons and meth were plentiful in certain spots on the Island.

Echoing my previous Barry O basketball scouting report, force him right and make him prove that he can hit the 15 foot jumper.

Barry the Baller wants to take you left on the drive and draw a foul so you have to be aware of his strengths. If Barry was on me in a 5 on 5 game, I would elbow him a few times or box him out hard early in the game to give him a sense that I am not going to back down. He is a scrapper and you need to out work him in garbage style points. I would use head fakes to neutralize his lanky wing span advantage.

Court endurance will be determined by how many cancer sticks each of us have been pounding. Hmmm.......... This whole president transition thing seems to going rather smoothly so Barry might be laying off on the heaters. I am always stressed out with a work, relationships and blogs.

Now that Barry O is officially a DC resident, I need to pump some of my Obama Admin contacts to make this pick up game with Barry O a reality. Mac G's got some game left in the tank. Check it Barry O.

Barry the Freshman Baller

Since this article and this link put me in serious depression, I needed a pick me up.
These pictures of Barry O chillin as a 19 year old lifted my spirits slightly. His hat is pretty P.I.M.P.

If anyone out there wants to know how our economy imploded and is on a fixed path of utter misery that none of us have ever experienced in our lifetimes, read this insightful article.

It is authored by respected Economist Joseph E. Stiglitz.

He was one of the few wise smart people not blinded by ideology and engaged in only wishful thinking for analysis. Stiglitz predicted in real time that our housing bubble would pop and the US financial markets would collapse, sending the world into a financial free for all of epic proportions.

For a nation that loves winners, I am amazed the number of people that still have credibility in our public media discourse after being WRONG about the two biggest issues of this current generation, the Economy and the Iraq War. Before any of my GOP friends jump all over this statement, it includes several pro war and Corporate owned Democrats as well. Complicit Democrats were guilty in these destructive policies too.

I wish that I could be more cheerful around Christmas and post more funny stuff because it sucks dealing with reality and we all need our release from the BS of life but I am genuinely scared for the financial well beings of my friends and family, along with all struggling Americans, who are losing their homes and jobs every single day in droves.

( A good friend with a wife and 2 small boys just lost his job last week. He is a big Republican too but now is not the time for me to score political cheap shots at his beliefs. I empathize with his troubles and think about the stress that he is going through quite often.)

I just hope we understand what caused this meltdown and see the genuine failure of this 30 year free market ideology run amok so that it never happens again. I have my doubts because of the strangle hold of Corporate owned media and the perpetual propaganda campaign of disinformation by the Fox "News" channel.

Our citizen's small attention spans and thirst for simple answers, propelled by an idiotic sound bite driven cable news culture, only hinders us from realizing the truth in complex situations.

Anyway, I will get back to bitching about sports, life, and highlighting hot poon in future posts. word, Mac G.

Here are several links to items that have given me a serious case of the blues.

Barry O Wants a College Football Playoff

President-Elect Barack Obama was interviewed on 60 minutes last night. Here is a funny exchange about his mother in law and the new future puppy that our county is obsessed over already.

Obama went on to reinforce his desire for a college football play off and I am positive greedy BCS college presidents chuckled to themselves because they have no intention of ever relinquishing their guaranteed money to fulfill the desires of college football fans. It makes too much sense.

I was unable to locate the video yet but here is the transcript.

KROFT:
I have one last question. As president of the United States, what can you do, or what do you plan to do, about getting a college football playoff for the national championship?

B. OBAMA: This is important. Look -- excuse me for a second.

B. OBAMA: I think any sensible person would say that, if you’ve got a bunch of teams who play throughout the season, and many of them have one loss or two losses, there’s no clear decisive winner, that we should be creating a playoff system.

Eight teams -- that would be three rounds to determine a national champion. It would add three extra weeks to the season. You could trim back on the regular season. I don’t know any serious fan of college football who has disagreed with me on this. So, I’m going to throw my weight around a little bit. I think it’s the right thing to do.

Terrorist Fist Jabbing to the White House

Maybe this Obama victory can reverse the fortunes of my NFL fantasy squad, "DC Terrorist Fist Jabs." My team is in a bigger free fall than the Grand Old Party and the Dallas Cowboys.

"Move Bush, Get Out the Way"

I did not end up here until a hour after this footage and the crowd had thinned a little but it was still electric.

My 2 favorite post election quotes so far:

Considering all of the "celebrabrating" going on last night, I wonder how big the baby boom will be between August 4th and August 11th 2009...

It's a great day for Democrats and Republicans alike. For Democrats, Barack Obama was elected President.
For Republicans, there was finally dancing in the streets and Americans greeted as liberators.

This Headline Says it ALL!

Brand New Funky President

My thoughts on the historic election will be forthcoming and I am still struggling to control my emotions with the enormity that has transpired. I was deeply moved by what I witnessed in the streets of DC last night and it was exactly what Martin Luther King wanted for America.

Thousands of people of all colors and ethnicities united in celebration for a common cause of good.

Meanwhile, we have a brand new funky President!!

Fired Up and Ready to Go!

I am ready to party, talk smack to any bow tied/flipped collared GOP staffers who dare to show their smug faces out this evening and rock in the new Obama administration at the main Democratic headquarters shin dig. Maybe I will even get on TV at the DC victory speech.

The Reagan Revolution is officially over and Karl Rove's GOP dream was nothing but a fantasy fairy tale.

Fired up! Ready to GO!

Barry the American Baller on MNF

I have further proof that Obama is not a member of secret terrorist sleeper cell out to get America like his most fervent detractors believe because he knows the tremendous need for a playoff in college football.

Barry the Baller love him some March madness, plays fantasy football, jokes about drinking too much booze, watches Sportscenter, jams out to Jay Z on his Ipod, and hoops it up in pickup games.

How much more American does a man have to get for the haters?

Barry O talks to "You're With Me Leather" on MNF.

Change Begins Today

After waiting for over a hour plus in 400 deep line at 7am, my vote for change is official.

My Mount Pleasant neighborhood in NW DC will be breaking huge for Obama and not the mainstream media cares (only white rural voters in Appalachia/PA matter), most of the urban Obama voters here will be pasty white like Mac G.

Barry O and Joe the Senator cast their ballots as well.

Change is near my friends.

Trainwreck

I am unaware if manual labor is now beneath Joe the "wannabee country star/congressman/social security expert" but the McCain campaign desperately needs him to work on the tracks of this national TV trainwreck.

Wow, that sure made sense eh? These intellectual bankrupt smears are too much to take anymore and I feel obligated to sound off quickly.(Warning, Rant Coming)

These hacks just pollute the discourse with toxic falsehoods. The guy this Mike Goldfarb Dbag is railing about, Rashid Khalidi, is an esteemed Palestinian scholar and to smear him for political gain is pure McCarthyism. The McCain blow hard obviously does not even know what he is talking about and by the way, American Jews are supporting Obama by 52 points!!!
Obama must really be anti Semantic to roll up those high margins. What a Fn Idiot.

Read this post
from Middle East Professor and respected blogger, Juan Cole for a detailed smack down of the low and dishonest attacks on an international respected academic.

Scott Horton provides another insightful perspective on these latest absurd attacks and Barrett Rubin, of Jewish descent, has hosted him in his own home.

Eric Martin expands on the bigotry tactics and Hillzoy argues calling Khalidi a neo-nazi is beyond vile. Even the pro war hawk WPost editorial board believes this is BS.

I know this is way off topic but I could take this crap anymore and maybe someone out there would actually like to know the truth about the lives and accomplishments of those who are unfairly made as campaign scapegoats for cheap political points.

One final note, I initially felt bad for Joe the suckeye fan and being thrust into the spotlight was genuinely not his fault. When he would not shut his mouth and reveled in his notoriety by railing on Obama's public policies with ignorant statements, my compassion quickly faded.

Every time I listen to this tax evader speak, I get the same head banging feelings my friends on the right do while watching Ben Affleck or Janeane Garofalo gab about politics.( I can't stand them either.)

Plus, Joe does not even actually possess the characteristics his campaign prop image is supposed to represent as a business owner making 250K a year after deductions. I hope this guy personally cashes in on his William Hung fame but seriously, please go away soon.

Keep on Truckin

This video is for the Obama peeps out there to make sure they are not over confident with the porn polls and encourage them to plow towards the historic victory in one week.

"We All Love This Country"

I am violating my personal avoidance of pushing too much politics on Mac G's World but F it. Loyal readers of this blog know that I have been in the tank for Barry the Baller for a long, long time. Most of my friends laughed in my face all of 2007 that he had no shot at the presidency and their arguments had solid merit when Barry's poll numbers in 2007 were similar to those of the current president's approval ratings, which is rock bottom in the low 20s.

This video just gave me serious chill bumps and the inspiration Barry O ignites in tens of millions of people can never be mocked as insignificant. The haters will try but mostly out of jealously that they are not feeling the same empowerment from a national political figure. Reagan and JFK were the last 2 presidential candidates to stir these genuine feelings in their supporters.

The decision to put honesty, intelligence and pragmatic decision making back in the leadership of our Federal government will be the instrumental turning point in our nation's history. Change is coming.

I am fired up and so is the HOVA.
