The Bad Luck of the Zards

I attended my first Wizards game of this 2009-10 stomach/cock punch season and the team actually gave a scrappy performance against the Dallas Mavericks, who are the Western Conference's 2nd best team.

In the final 30 seconds, Wizards' Mike Miller hit a 3 pointer and Brandon Haywood subsequently drew the above charge from Dirk. Wizards were down one with the ball and here is video of the game deciding play.

DOH! Caron Butler had his shot tossed by Shawn Marion!

Wizards head coach Flip Saunders was furious after the game because Butler did not run the play that was called. Truth About It has more details on Butler “Going Rogue.”

I was able to capture a funny video clip and fans love them some dance cam.

The Wizards dance team appears sexier from the upper levels than down below but let’s be honest, most of us would still hit it sober and especially, for the story.

All Eyez On Me

My boy, Big Corn Oil, and I took our 14 year old hoops team to the Wizards/Bobcats game on Wednesday at the Verizon Center in DC. We scored a suite box for the teen crew and at the halftime entertainment, this little dribbling prodigy named Felix put on a show.

Lil Felix went with multiple balls and his handle is better than most teenagers.

Pretty sik display eh?

The Zards edged out a W in a game of who did want to win, aka, UGLY and thus, making sure the 2008-9 Washington Wizards did not become the first team to not win one game in their division. Wiz were 0-14 with only 2 games left for losing history.
Some ray of hope for the franchise was Agent Zero getting his jumper nice in a full speed pre game workout.

The only way this team gets back to playoff caliber is if Gil gets his All Star groove back. If not, they are screwed big time with the cap but Blake Griffin would help next year. :)

The first pick will prolly not materialize so then Wiz should trade down for a point guard like VCU's  Eric Maynor or gobble up Spain's Ricky Rubio if he gets his buy out to be in draft.  Both are Rondo like with the basketball and also, Tyreke Evans showed some NBA game in Memphis' upset loss to Mizzou.

My Pitt title over Memphis in final is partially busted and the President is still beating me and so is Mike and Mike. UGH!

Javale's Jam

Here is one of the few highlights coming out of a truly terrible Washington Wizards basketball squad this season. The rookie Javale McGree got all Gumby like on his sick cup dunk.

I will still get sucked in to watching the Wizards games in the evenings but I am ready for the Wiz to go in straight up NBA draft pick tank mode. Blake Griffin and Greg Monroe would be great choices and both posses much needed inside presence on the low block for this super soft team.

One Down, Two to Go

If anyone in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood of Washington DC heard 2 loud screams shortly after 8:30pm est last night, it was not a case of domestic abuse but just me yelling as the result of these 2 plays.

The odds are still long for the Wizards to win the series but all of the pressure is now on Lebron James to close them out. The Wiz are supposed to lose to the King.

I feel more karma payback for the Jay Z dis song upcoming.

Darius Songalia did not punch Lebron either even though on TNT's angle it appears that way. I was watching the local DC Comcast TV and they had another camera angle, which it clearly shows Lebron's arm was hooked inside Darius' arm.

Lebron pulled his arm out, causing Darius's hand to fly towards him. I hope the NBA sees the real angle and does not rely solely on TNT's shot for future punishment.

Caron Butler reminded everyone last night he is an all star and good to see that he finally realized that Wally Szczerbiak is trying to check him in this series.
A final word from Butler, who has not participated in the goofy stuff throughout this series and was a little ticked off by it:

"Don't judge this team by comments," he said. "LeBron made a statement: 'these guys are talkers' but unless you hear something from the captains, which would be myself and Antawn, don't label that as the team. I'm the voice of this team and Antawn is the spiritual and emotional leader so unless you hear it from one of us, keep it moving."

Soulja Boy Up in Dis Hoe

Washington's Deshawn Stevenson called LeBulldoze James "overrated" after the Wizards beat the Cavs last month and LeBulldoze bricked a potential game winner. Deshawn had been trash talking all game, possibly resulting in Lebulldoze's poor performance.

Lebulldoze used a hip hop analogy incorrectly to dis Deshawn's remarks.

“With DeShawn Stevenson it is kind of funny. It’s almost like Jay-Z saying something bad about Soulja Boy. There’s no comparison. Enough said.”

HUH?

Obviously, a college English course could have benefited LeTravel James in his empty pursuit of a witty literary comeback.

Deshawn is not backing down at all and he is ready rip some more smack talk on LeTravel for the upcoming Wiz/Cavs first round playoff series. He is even adding a special guest to the mix.

He also said that he's serious about getting Soulja Boy a courtside seat for games against Cleveland at Verizon Center in the first round. And, he said he's serious about putting Soulja Boy in one of his game jerseys.

"Oh, he's going to be there, watch," Stevenson said though he said it with a smirk that made it hard for me to tell if he was serious. I guess we'll have to wait and see. He also said that he'll have some "good stuff" for us after the game. My read: he's going to call LeBron James out some more.

I would love to see LeTravel get into a pissing match with DeShawn while the Wizards big 3 regain their unity in an upset series W for the Wiz.

This whole "rivalry" is pretty entertaining and I am still bitter from the BS 06 series where LeTravel was allowed 4 steps on his 2 game winners.

Time To Crank and Watch the Wiz ROLL!.

Zards are Cursed

Last night Agent Zero returned to the court for the first time in over 5 months and the reviews are mostly positive with Arenas racking racking up 17 points in 18 minutes.

However in true Wizards fashion, they lost on a last second shot to an inferior team. Check out the painful game winner.

To more pour salt into the Zards fans' wounds, starters Antwan Jamison, Caron Butler and Deshawn Stevenson all were injured in the game. Twan and Stevenson went down on the same play with only a few seconds remaining!

Stevenson sprained his ankle but Jamison's injury could be more severe as he sprained his shooting shoulder.

I have no idea why but the NBA shaman just hates the Wizards.

DAGGER!

I do not post much about the Wizards and I usually save my rantings for the best Wizards blog on the planet, Bullets Forever.

Lately, it has been pretty depressing rooting for the Wizards. I rail on Coach Eddie Jordan's sub patterns and harp about the deficiencies of the players on the court.

However, the bottom line is playing an NBA schedule without your 2 best players is not a recipe for success and this team will be prone to severe setbacks until they return.

This amazing road upset last night in New Orleans was a much needed victory for anyone who follows the Zards. Wizards announcer Steve Buckhantz has another memorable call.

Blatche's Local Bordello Busted Up

Last summer Washington Wizards Forward Andray Blatche was arrested for solicitation of a prostitute in the DC Thomas Circle neighborhood.

You can read a blow by blow transcription of his encounter with the undercover police officer here. Blatche first denied his involvement and then had all charges dropped after he completed John School.

I hope other Wizards ballers astutely informed Andray that just one trip to the DC hot spot H20 on a Saturday night would provide him with all the free local hot trim one man would ever need.

In case "John School," did not cure Andray and he still has a hooker itch, it appears that he will have to find a new place to troll for paid "talent."

A prostitution ring working out of the Washington Hotel Plaza in Thomas Circle was busted up and 11 individuals were arrested.

DC John School's enrollment just swelled and still no word, if Andray's services will be needed as a future guest speaker.

No More Hookers in Thomas Circle?

The NCAA is happy as Blatche finally enrolls in S=school
Hooker Set Up?Naw!
